Hannah Horvath is one of the main characters in the wonderful HBO series “Girls,” played by Lena Dunham, the creator of the series. Today we will explore Hannah’s fashion choices.
״Girls״ is known for its relatable portrayal of friendship, love, and navigating adulthood in New York City. What I love most about this show is its ability to depict characters who are simultaneously smart, fun and funny, yet equally irritating, selfish and weird. This is an authentic reflection of real-life relationships.
Each character of the girls in the show brings her own unique fashion sense to the table which reflects her personality. Jessa’s style is bohemian chic, Marnie opts for classic sophistication, and Shoshanna embraces preppy trends with a quirky twist. However to me- it’s Hannah Horvath who truly stands out with her fearless approach to fashion.
Hannah’s fashion choices
Hannah’s fashion choices are a testament to her unapologetic individuality. She’s not afraid to embrace her body, tattoos, unconventional looks and she is not afraid of experimenting with new haircuts. Whether she’s wearing a cute little dress or a completely see-through tank top (you know which one I’m talking about), Hannah’s style is all her own. Her wardrobe reflects her journey of self-discovery, mirroring her evolving confidence and self-acceptance throughout the series.
The Good, The Bad, and The Annoying
While Hannah’s fashion sense is undeniably unique and inspiring, it’s also intertwined with her flaws and idiosyncrasies. Her tendency towards self-absorption, impulsivity, and occasional lack of consideration for others can be frustrating to watch at times. Yet, it’s precisely these imperfections that make her character so relatable and human.
What I love about Hannah’s fashion choices is that they don’t pretend to be high-fashion, or the trendiest. Hannah chooses the clothes she likes to wear because it’s comfortable for her, because she feels beautiful in them, or because that’s what just randomly came out of the closet. Sometimes her style is more meticulous, and sometimes it is casual and the combination of the two styles is what creates authenticity in the character, and in the series as a whole. Her style is simple and unpretentious, and you will most likely find yourself wearing items that she also wears.
Finally,
In a world where trends control us and dictate what to wear, girls remind us of the beauty of embracing individuality. Through Hannah’s fearless fashion choices, we are encouraged to celebrate our quirks and flaws and express ourselves with courage and humanity. After all, true style isn’t about following trends—it’s about owning who you are.
If by chance you haven’t watched the series yet- PLEASE. Do yourself amp me a favor and watch it, you can find all the seasons at MAX.
You will laugh, get excited, get angry, and feel like you are part of the coolest group of girls on the other side of the screen.
